What is the Business Leadership Club?  (The BLC) The BLC is an extensive learning community that spans BCC business students, recent alumni in four-year colleges, and alumni in major enterprises.  Its mission is to enhance the curriculum of our business programs, foster engagement and collaboration between students, and support student success in academia and life.  In 2006-7 its events drew close to 2,500 students!  In 2005/6, its events drew close to 800 students a 60% increase over 2004/5. It grew out of the highly successful Connect to the Future event in which the Business Division was a key driver and in which our students served as student ambassadors. Its website is http://bccblc.50webs.org/index.html.  The students in the BLC plan comprehensive programs of speakers, field trips, shadowing opportunities and social events.   The excellent and diverse speakers have extended the curriculum of the existing courses and provided invaluable advice on career.   All of our speakers have cited the importance of relevant internships even if they are unpaid.   They talked about critical analysis and excellent writing as key to advancement. They talked about how working on teams has become vital. What do I get out of this?  Shadowing opportunities and recruiting panels teach our students what they cannot learn in the classrooms about how to succeed. Explore careers in business that you might not even know about!! Gain access to Alumni in prominent local corporations!  Begin valuable Networking Skills!  Add important non-textbook Activities to your Resume!!!  Learn how to better present yourself to maximize your talents!!  It is no coincidence that the Business Transfer program is the most successful transfer program in the state and that our students continue on to responsible and challenging careers. How do you get involved? Come to our meetings Fridays at 1:30 pm in Student Programs C225.  Send an email to Josh Engel or Michelle Liu at josh.engel@yahoo.com or jliu@bellevuecollege.edu and ask to get involved, attend a planning meeting, and help with a future speaker or event, thus gaining valuable networking and event planning time.  There are plenty of opportunities to volunteer and get involved with our 2K Walk & Roll for Change & Hope which is coming up on May 7th, 2009! Volunteer to serve as Officer.  We have open positions!
